18 years of experience in rail engineering with GM and Progress Rail (subsidiary of Caterpillar)
A few of Steven’s accomplishments in the field:
– Participated in Design for Manufacture (DFM) session for cab equipped•
– Performed Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Modal Analysis to validate SD90MAC cab design.
– Designed cab structure and [cab] isolation system for the SD90MAC – Phase 2 locomotive.
– Developed alternative welding procedure/process for manufacturing efficiency.
– Supported service engineering with retrofitting of SD70IAC cab isolation system.
– Performed in modal analysis validation work on SD90MAC and GT46MAC locomotive.
– Worked on modal mapping of locomotive sub-structures to avoid resonance.
– Obtained U.S. Patent (8,210,106) for cab isolator bracket design. Three other patents submitted in 2013/2014 to U.S. patent office – isolated powertrain, adjustable camera bracket
– Redesign of the JT42 cab structure for noise and vibration abatement control.

More recently, Scott Consulting has completed the structural development of a battery powered locomotive and the conceptual railway vehicle development for an alternative energy group.
